6 Ways To Prevent Carpet Odor In Air Conditioned Office Room

No one enjoys a smelly carpet, especially in an air conditioned room. That's why it's very important to ensure that no matter what happens, your carpet would smell fresh all the time. Though, we can't avoid the accidents that could make your carpet stink and how bad that stink is, would determine how difficult it is going to be to clean your carpet. You might end up putting more time, effort, and money in order to solve that problem. Fortunately, there are a number of ways on how you could prevent the carpet odor in an air conditioned room. Here are some of them.

Carpet Odor

Tip #1: Try to Air out the Place Every Now and Then
For those who have an air conditioned office room, it's important to air out your place every now and then. For one, fresh air would never hurt anyone, but would be quite helpful, especially if you have carpets in your room. Open your windows, turn on the fans, and allow the odor to evaporate. This is a great way to show that carpet odor that he's missing out something by staying indoors. Kidding aside, opening the windows would allow some ventilation and it could prevent odor accumulation once you close the windows, doors, and turn on your air con.

Tip #2: Vacuum
In order to keep your carpet smelling fresh, it's essential to vacuum your office at least three to four times a week. Likewise, this should be done more often if you have pets in your office room. By doing so, you're going to prevent the particulates from becoming airborne and turning into nasty, and stinky smells. Additionally, by using a lightly scented carpet freshening/deodorizing powder, and follow the directions that go with it, you could ensure that your carpet would stay fresh for a longer period of time. You could also use fabric fresheners and they're one of the effective ways to eliminate those nasty odors.

Tip #3: Use Baking Soda
Have a visit to your kitchen cabinet or visit the grocery before going to work. Pull out a box of baking soda, and this could probably be a solution to your problem. Baking soda is considered to be an odor-eater and by sprinkling some of this white powder all over your carpet-- concentrate on the areas where it's really smelly-- you could instantly make that foul odor disappear. After that, use a broom and brush the powder lightly, allowing it to go down into the carpet fibers. Sprinkle more baking soda-- in liberal amounts. Keep in mind you want to get rid of the carpet odor as much as possible. Allow the baking soda to sit for 48 hours and sweep it after. You could also vacuum to get the deeper remnants of it. See if the smell has completely disappeared. If not, repeat the process once again.

Carpet Odor

Tip #4: Use Vinegar
Depending on what's available, you could either spray vinegar onto your carpet or blot it on using a piece of fabric. In case that you want to eliminate a stronger odor, it's ideal to use a considerable amount of vinegar and allow it to completely sink down, but not soil the carpet. Once it's applied, allow it to sit for about 15-30 minutes. The acid of the vinegar could eliminate carpet odor. Finish it up by blotting the vinegar with clean cloth and spray some water in order to rinse it. Once the smell is gone, you'll notice that your carpet smells a little fresher.

Tip #5: Clean Up Immediately
Whenever there is accidental spills, ensure that you'll clean this up using a mild cleaner. This could be a mixture of white vinegar and water, or a carpet cleaning product. Rinse the area with water, and make it a point to blot it with paper towels until the moisture is completely gone.

Tip #6: Take Off Your Shoes (If Possible)
In order to prevent that nasty carpet smell, it's important to keep as much dirt as possible off the carpet. By removing the shoes before stepping in, would ensure that your carpet would stay clean and nice for a longer time. This would keep the outside dirt where it really belongs. Aside from that, invest in a shoe shelf beside your office. Wear slippers, so that the oils on your feet wouldn't transfer on the carpet.
